Pune: The Kondhwa police have arrested a man for allegedly kidnapping and molesting a young woman who had gone for a drive to Bopdev Ghat with a friend.
The accused, Rajekhan Karim Pathan (36), is a resident of Kondhwa and was apprehended following a complaint filed by the woman at the Kondhwa police station.
The incident occurred when the victim and her friend were enjoying an outing at Bopdev Ghat. Pathan approached them in a car, falsely introducing himself as a member of a human rights organization.
He claimed that the area was restricted for couples and used this as a pretext to take photographs of the woman and her companion with his mobile phone.
Threatening them, Pathan coerced the woman into his car and drove her to the Khadi Machine Chowk area in Kondhwa. In a secluded alley, he allegedly molested the woman before fleeing after leaving her at the same location.
The terrified woman immediately lodged a complaint with the police. Following a swift investigation, Kondhwa police arrested Pathan. The investigation is being led by Sub-Inspector Shabana Shaikh under the supervision of Senior Inspector Vinay Patankar.
Social Worker Balasaheb Randive Fatally Attacked Over Old Dispute
Pune: In a shocking incident, prominent social worker Balasaheb Randive was fatally attacked in Pune's Market Yard area on Wednesday (October 2) night, following a long-standing dispute.
Randive, 28, who was the president of the Bahujan Shakti Sena, succumbed to his injuries on Thursday morning after being assaulted by four individuals. The Market Yard police have detained the four suspects involved in the crime.
