Family Feud Ends in Murder as Nephew Kills Abusive Uncle in Chakan

Shivraj Sanas

Pune: A disturbing murder case has emerged from the Mungse locality of Rase village, where the body of a man was discovered near a stream.

The victim, identified as Sandip Shivaji Khande (40), was brutally killed by his nephew, Suresh Dnyaneshwar Mengal (37), with the assistance of a friend, Dilip alias Topal Pandurang Aghaan.

According to police investigations, Sandip had been verbally and physically abusive toward his nephew over trivial matters for the past six months, leading Suresh to contemplate his uncle's elimination.

The situation escalated to violence on September 18 when Suresh, after drinking alcohol, lured Sandip to a secluded area in Wadekar’s field, promising more drinks.

After making Sandip intoxicated, Suresh left to fetch more liquor. On his way, he met his friend Dilip and solicited his help in committing the murder.

They returned to the location where Sandip was passed out, and Dilip assaulted him with a wooden stick. Following the attack, Suresh strangled Sandip until he stopped moving and then disposed of the body in nearby bushes.

The police discovered the body on September 19, and after initial investigations, Suresh was brought in for questioning. He initially provided inconsistent answers, but upon further pressure from the police, he confessed to the crime.

Suresh’s confession led to his arrest, and the police have since apprehended Dilip as well. This case has drawn significant attention due to the shocking nature of the crime and the familial ties involved.

The operation to apprehend the suspects was conducted by a team led by Senior Police Inspector Shailesh Gaikwad from the Crime Branch’s Unit 3, under the supervision of various senior officials, including Police Commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey.
