Father-Son Duo Charged for Beating Stray Dogs Over Seat Cover Damage

Pune: A father and son were charged by police after they allegedly beat a stray dog and her puppies with sticks, enraged over the animals tearing the seat covers of a vehicles parked in their housing society.

The accused, identified as Bharatkumar Dhanraj Gandhi and his son Harshad Bharatkumar Gandhi, were named in the complaint filed at Swargate Police Station.

According to police reports, Shah received a call informing him that the Gandhis were attacking the dogs. Shah then contacted Bharatkumar Gandhi, who justified his actions by stating that the dogs had damaged the seats of several vehicles, leading to financial loss for the residents.

Shah attempted to intervene by offering to pay for the damages and rushed to the location. However, upon his arrival, he found both Bharatkumar and Harshad Gandhi striking the dogs with sticks.

Shah promptly reported the incident to the authorities, leading to the registration of a case against the father-son duo under relevant sections of the law.

The case has raised concerns among local residents and animal welfare groups, who are urging stricter enforcement of animal protection laws. The police have assured a thorough investigation into the matter, and the accused will face legal proceedings for their actions.

Recently, an altercation over giving way while feeding stray dogs in Koregaon Park resulted in one man sustaining a nasal fracture. The incident led to the filing of counter complaints. Simon Moti Frances Virem (60, resident of Koregaon Park) has lodged a complaint at Koregaon Park police station.
