Pune: In a tragic incident early this (October 2) morning, a trailer lost control on the old Pune-Mumbai highway, resulting in a fiery accident that left the driver seriously injured. The accident occurred at approximately 6:30 AM, according to reports from the local police.

The trailer was en route from Mumbai to Pune when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle. The out-of-control trailer veered off the road, leading to a collision that ignited a massive fire. The blaze quickly engulfed the entire vehicle, reducing it to ashes.

Emergency services were immediately alerted, and the Vadgaon Maval Fire Brigade, along with the teams from Devdoot and IRB, responded swiftly to the scene.

Firefighters worked to bring the fire under control, preventing it from spreading to nearby areas. Despite their quick action, the trailer was completely destroyed by the fire.

The driver of the trailer sustained severe burn injuries in the accident. He was promptly rescued from the vehicle and rushed to a nearby private hospital, where he is currently receiving treatment. His condition remains critical, according to initial reports.

As a result of the accident, traffic on the Mumbai-to-Pune route was significantly disrupted. The resulting traffic jam lasted for some time before the fire was contained and the wreckage cleared from the road. After the emergency services successfully extinguished the fire, normal traffic flow was restored on the highway.

Authorities are now investigating the cause of the accident, with early reports suggesting that the driver lost control of the trailer due to unknown circumstances.
