Pune: A Flipkart delivery boy has gone missing after misappropriating parcels worth ₹82,277, including cash-on-delivery payments, which he was supposed to deliver to customers.
The incident occurred on 14th August, and Hadapsar police have registered a case against the accused, identified as Vishal Bapu Patil (age 26), a resident of Hadapsar.
According to the complaint filed by Mangesh Sasane, Flipkart's Area Manager, Patil was assigned to deliver 52 parcels to customers in the Gadital area of Pune.
The parcels included 32 cash-on-delivery (COD) orders and 10 prepaid packages. Patil was tasked with ensuring these were delivered to the respective customers.
On the day of the incident, Patil failed to return to the warehouse by the end of his shift and did not submit a delivery report. Despite repeated attempts to contact him, his mobile phone remained switched off.
Flipkart officials became suspicious and began an inquiry into the undelivered parcels.
Further investigation revealed that out of the 52 assigned parcels, only 10 were delivered as per schedule. Patil collected ₹16,794 from COD orders but failed to deposit the amount with the warehouse.
Additionally, he misappropriated 10 prepaid parcels, using the items for personal gain. The total value of the goods and cash misappropriated amounts to ₹82,277.
The Hadapsar police have launched an investigation into the matter, and constable Nanaware is leading the case. As of now, Patil remains at large, and efforts are being made to track him down.
