Pune: Heavy rainfall over the past few days has led to severe flooding in Pune and the surrounding state. The Omkareshwar Temple, located in the riverbed of the Mula-Mutha River, has been inundated due to the continuous release of water from the Khadakwasla Dam.

Consequently, devotees will miss the darshan (sight) of the Omkareshwar Temple on the first Monday (August 5) of Shravan this year.

The floodwaters have reached the sanctum of the temple, making it inaccessible to devotees in the morning session. However, there is a possibility that if the water recedes by noon, the temple may be opened for darshan.

Continuous rain in Pune for the past 15 days has created a flood situation. Many areas have been affected by the flood, and thousands of citizens have been relocated.

To assess the situation, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is visiting Pune on Monday (August 5). A few days ago, the Chief Minister provided a financial aid of ten lakhs to the families of two youths who died in the previous flood. The flood-affected people are now eager to see what assistance the Chief Minister will announce.

On the other hand, the continuous release of water from the Khadakwasla Dam project has created a flood situation in many parts of Pune city.

Meanwhile, Dr. Rajendra Bhosale, Commissioner of the Pune Municipal Corporation, has interacted with citizens on the ground in light of the flood situation. He has also urged citizens to follow the instructions provided by the Municipal Corporation.
