Forest Robberies: Villagers Help Rajgad Police Nab Minor Suspect

Neelam Karale

Pune: In Bhor taluka, a minor has been charged at Rajgad Police Station for robbing and threatening citizens in the forest between Nasrapur and Khadki villages. The complaint was lodged by Rohini Rajendra Bandal, a resident of Khadki.

On July 7, around 3 PM, Rohini Bandal was heading to the weekly market in Nasarapur when she encountered a boy near the Janubai temple. After briefly walking with her and inquiring about her destination, he snatched her bag, took Rs. 1500 in cash, and fled, leaving the bag behind. Bandal shouted for help, but with no one around, the boy managed to escape.

A similar incident occurred with Ganpat Dinkar Ranjane of Khadki. On July 14, around 5:30 PM, while he was returning to Khadki from Nasrapur, a boy confronted him in the forest and demanded money.

When Ranjane refused, the boy tried to snatch his bag, but Ranjane resisted, causing the boy to flee.

Two days ago, another incident occurred when a young girl was heading to Khadki. She noticed two boys with iron rods following her on the forest path.

She called her relatives in the village, who promptly arrived, causing the boys to flee. Recognizing the severity of these incidents, the villagers filed a complaint at Rajgad Police Station.

When contacted, Police Inspector Rajesh Gawali stated that the boy was initially unknown at the time of the crime, leading to the filing of the case against an unidentified minor.

A charge sheet will be filed against the identified individual once the complainant confirms their identification. The villagers, after identifying the boy following the girl, handed him over to the police, with Rohini Bandal also identifying him as the one who had stolen her bag and Rs. 1500. The investigation is ongoing.
