From Field to Service: 14 Women Kho-Kho Players Land Government Jobs

Narasimha Sports Club has played a crucial role in nurturing kho-kho talent in the village.

Pune: In a remarkable achievement, 14 women from farming families, known for their prowess in the traditional sport of kho-kho, have successfully entered various government services, with 10 of them donning the khaki uniform.

This includes three police sub-inspectors, one state sales tax inspector, one sports officer, one health officer, seven police constables, and one village revenue officer, all associated with the Narasimha Sports Club in Ranjani, Ambegaon taluka.

The Narasimha Sports Club has played a crucial role in nurturing kho-kho talent in the village, transforming the grit, determination, and focus developed through this traditional sport into significant achievements.

The players have garnered recognition not only for their local efforts but also for bringing accolades to the state at the national level, marking Ranjani as a village of government officials.

The journey of these 14 women reflects their dedication and physical capabilities honed on the kho-kho field. Pranali Benke stands out as a police sub-inspector, having participated in 17 national kho-kho competitions and contributing to the state team with an impressive 14 gold medals. She has also led the Maharashtra state team as captain on three occasions.

Kajal Bhor has received a direct appointment as a sports officer, having played in 18 national competitions and securing 18 gold medals for the state.

Her accolades also include a gold medal while representing the Indian women's team in the South Asian kho-kho competition, along with a gold medal earned for the Maharashtra team in the National Games held in Goa.

Additionally, Bhagyashree Jadhav and Pallavi Wagh have been appointed as police sub-inspectors. Bhagyashree has demonstrated her talent by winning two gold medals in national competitions and nine in state-level competitions, while Pallavi has also excelled in kho-kho by securing a gold medal.
