Pune: Despite 72,174 students securing seats for the 11th grade in junior colleges within the Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal areas, a significant number of seats—48,471 to be precise—remain vacant. To address this, authorities have launched a third special admission round.
The admission process began with 102,488 registered students vying for 120,645 available seats across 343 junior colleges.
Out of these, 103,315 seats were available under the central admission process, and 17,330 seats were available under various quotas.
So far, three regular admission rounds and two special rounds have resulted in 39,589 admissions under the central process and 8,882 under quotas.
The schedule for the third special round of 11th-grade admissions is as follows:
August 17 & 19: Students must complete Part-2 of the application and select their preferred junior colleges. New students must register online, complete Part-1 of the application, get it verified, and lock their preference form.
August 20 & 21: Data processing, preparation, and verification of the merit list for eligible candidates.
August 21: The merit list will be announced, and the list of selected junior colleges for students will be displayed on the portal. The respective colleges will also display the list of students who have been allocated seats in their login.
August 22 & 23: Colleges will confirm admissions, cancel admissions, or manage rejections. Students who do not secure admission despite getting their first preference or who cancel their admission will not be restricted from participating in the next round. New student registration and completion of Part-1 of the application will continue for the next round.
August 23: Colleges will update the status of admitted students on the portal, and the remaining vacant seats will be announced.
