Gang Attempts Murder Over Old Feud; Pune Police Arrest Seven Suspects in 12 Hours

Pune: Sahakarnagar police arrested seven individuals, including an uncle-nephew duo, within 12 hours after a gang attempted to murder two men with machetes in Dhanakwadi due to an old feud. Two minors connected to the incident were also taken into custody.

The victims, Sameer Anant Khopte (31) and Sameer Kamble (30), sustained serious injuries in the attack. According to the police, the incident occurred late at night when the complainant and his friends were chatting in Dhanakwadi.

A group of 9 to 10 people, including the uncle-nephew duo, arrived on motorcycles and assaulted Khopte and Kamble, declaring that they would not let them live this time due to a past dispute.

The assailants first attacked them with kicks and punches, followed by machete strikes, before fleeing the scene.

Based on tips received by police officers Amol Pawar and Mahesh Mandalik, three of the accused were attempting to escape on motorcycles from Teen Hathi Chowk. The officers immediately responded, pursued the suspects, and apprehended them, leading to further arrests.

The suspects have been identified as Mallesh Pandurang Kamble (38), Ravi Anand Chavan (20), Datta Ramchandra Jadhav (22), Sarthak Balasaheb Kudale (20), Akshay Appa Mohite (24), Swapnil Ganesh Jadhav (19), and Niranjan Uttam Devkar (19).

The operation was coordinated under the leadership of Additional Commissioner of Police Pravinkumar Patil (IPS), DCP Smartana Patil, ACP Nandini Vagyani, Sr. PI Chhagan Kapse, and PI Uttam Bhajanawale, along with a dedicated team of officers and personnel from the Sahakarnagar police station.
