Pimpri: A shocking incident unfolded in the early hours of Sunday (September 15) in Kawade Nagar, New Sangvi, when two gangsters attacked and vandalized 14 vehicles parked along the roadside using machetes.

They then brutally assaulted a mentally challenged man when he refused to provide them with an address and witnessed the crime in progress.

The Sangvi police have arrested Shashikant Dadarav Bansode (24) and Prathamesh Arun Ingle (18), both residents of Rahatani, in connection with the incident. Rajesh Kishan Zhambare, a young man from the area, was severely injured in the attack.

The incident took place around 4 a.m. on Sunday when the accused began attacking parked vehicles on the roadside in an attempt to spread fear in the area. They used machetes to vandalize 14 vehicles in total, damaging windows and causing significant property damage.

Rajesh Zhambare happened to witness the vandalism and was approached by the two men. They demanded that he give them the address of a person named Lala Patil.

When Rajesh refused to provide the information, and due to the fact that he had seen them vandalizing the vehicles, they attacked him with machetes, severely injuring him.

Sangvi police have registered two separate cases against the accused: one for attempted murder and another for vehicle vandalism. The injured Rajesh Zhambare is receiving medical treatment for his injuries, while Assistant Police Inspector Kalkutge is leading the investigation.
