Girish Mahajan Denies Rumors of Harshvardhan Patil’s Defection to NCP

Pune: Amidst political rumors suggesting that BJP leader Harshvardhan Patil might switch allegiance to the Sharad Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), BJP leader and Maharashtra minister Girish Mahajan has come forward to deny these claims.

During a Ganesh Chaturthi celebration at Mahajan’s residence in Mumbai, where Harshvardhan Patil was also present, Mahajan addressed the media, labeling the speculations as baseless.

He clarified that Patil's recent appearance at a meeting in Pune was related to his responsibilities regarding cooperative sugar factories at the central level, and there was no political shift in the making.

"Harshvardhan Patil attended the sugar factory meeting due to his central responsibilities. Just because he met with others at a location doesn’t mean he’s switching parties," Mahajan explained.

The rumors gained momentum after Patil hinted at political possibilities in recent statements, raising concerns within BJP circles. Political analysts were quick to predict a major setback for the BJP if Patil, a prominent leader in his region, were to depart.

However, Mahajan emphasized that such meetings between leaders at events are common and do not signify any political realignment. "Leaders meet at various programs, but that doesn't mean we're joining other parties.

Harshvardhan Patil remains with the BJP. Although there are some concerns related to his constituency, they will be addressed soon. Devendra Fadnavis is in direct contact with him to resolve these issues," Mahajan added.

Concluding his remarks, Mahajan underscored his personal relationship with Patil, calling him a close friend, and reaffirmed that all the circulating rumors were without foundation.
