Hadapsar: Nirmal Township Security Guard Arrested for Cultivating Cannabis

Pune: A shocking incident involving the illegal cultivation of cannabis has been uncovered at the Nirmal Township, a luxurious society located in Kalepadal, Hadapsar.

The Hadapsar police have registered a case against a 23-year-old security guard, Pappu Chhunkona Nishad, who resides in the township.

According to police officer Nitin Shinde, a complaint was filed at the Hadapsar police station based on information received regarding the incident.

Senior Police Inspector Santosh Pandhare directed an investigation team to look into the matter after receiving a tip-off that two cannabis plants had been planted behind a tin shed where the security guard lives, specifically in the amenities area of Nirmal Township.

In response to the tip-off, Assistant Police Inspector Abdagir, along with officers Nitin Shinde, Kesarkar, Thopte, Raut, Zhunjar, and Pandharakar, proceeded to the Nirmal Township. Upon inspecting the area behind the tin shed where Nishad resides, they discovered two green cannabis plants.

When questioned about the plants, Nishad confessed that he had personally planted them. The police then uprooted both plants and weighed them, revealing a total weight of 94 grams.

Subsequently, a case was filed against Pappu Nishad for the illegal cultivation of narcotic plants, and he was arrested. The investigation is being carried out by Police Inspector Umesh Gitte.

The Anti-Narcotics Cell of Pune Police recently arrested two individuals involved in the sale of drugs, seizing 63 grams of methamphetamine (MD) valued at ₹14 lakh. The arrested suspects, identified as Zaheer alias Saad Gani Khan (20) and Adnan Shabir Sheikh (25), are residents of Kondhwa.
