Pune: In a peculiar case of theft, thieves in Shikrapur made off with a bundle of hair worth ₹50,000 from a local shop, sparking both amusement and curiosity among the locals.

The incident occurred at West Hair Supply, a shop located in Chakan Chowk, where owner Vaijanath Jadhav trades hair for utensils.

On the evening of October 10, Jadhav closed his shop early due to the Navratri festival and went home. Over the past 15 days, he had amassed a large quantity of hair, which he had bundled up and left in the shop.

However, when he returned the next morning, he found the utensils scattered across the shop and the entire bundle of hair missing. Upon inspection, Jadhav discovered that the thieves had broken through the mesh on the back wall of the shop to steal the hair.

Initially unsure whether to file a complaint, Jadhav decided to take action when he realized the value of the stolen hair exceeded ₹50,000. He lodged a complaint at Shikrapur Police Station, and Constable Ganesh Karpe is leading the investigation into this unusual theft.

While the crime may seem strange, the police are taking the investigation seriously. They are employing standard procedures such as fingerprint analysis, mobile location tracking, reviewing CCTV footage, and gathering intelligence on the potential sale or disposal of the stolen hair.

Despite the unusual nature of the crime, the investigation is being handled with the same diligence as any other serious offense.
