Harassment at Navratri Festivities Will Lead to Strict Police Action: Vinoy Kumar Choubey

Shivraj Sanas

Pimpri: As the festive season of Navratri approaches, Police Commissioner Vinoy Kumar Choubey has issued a stern warning against any incidents of harassment or misconduct at Dandiya and Garba events.

To ensure that women are protected and that all festivities are conducted peacefully, Choubey has directed the Pimpri-Chinchwad police force to take preventive measures, including foot patrolling in crowded areas.

In preparation for Navratri, which draws massive crowds across the city, Commissioner Choubey visited all three zone offices under the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate.

He held meetings with senior police officers, including Deputy Commissioners of Police Sandeep Doiphode, Vishal Gaikwad, Swapna Gore, Dr. Shivaji Pawar, and Assistant Commissioners of Police Sachin Hire, Mugutlal Patil, and Rajendra Singh Gaur.

During the meetings, he emphasized the importance of maintaining law and order, especially in high-traffic areas during the festival.

CP Choubey has instructed that proper security arrangements be made at all Dandiya venues and surrounding areas to prevent any untoward incidents.

Police patrols have been ordered to cover parks, open grounds, and public spaces, which tend to attract large gatherings. Stray animals in such crowded areas should also be controlled to avoid any disruption.

Large gatherings are expected at various Navratri events, and the Commissioner has stressed that the police presence must be visible and vigilant.

Officers and Crime Branch personnel will be conducting daily foot patrols in key areas, ensuring that citizens can celebrate the festival without fear of harassment or danger.

Navratri Organizers Given Safety Guidelines
To enhance safety measures, the Police Commissioner has also provided detailed guidelines to Navratri organizers.

Committees have been asked to install CCTV cameras at venues and to deploy volunteers at key locations, such as where the idol of the goddess is placed and where Dandiya is performed. These steps aim to create a safe and secure environment for all participants.
