Pune: With heavy rainfall continuing for the past 72 hours in the Ghat regions, the weather department has issued a warning for the next two to three days in Konkan, Ghat, and central Maharashtra.
On Sunday (July 7), torrential rains hit areas like Raigad and Patgaon, prompting authorities to advise citizens to avoid monsoon tourism for now. Warnings have been issued for heavy rainfall in the Pune and Satara Ghat sections.
Landslide-prone areas have recorded significant rainfall over the last 72 hours, with expectations of continued heavy rain. If the downpour persists in the Ghat and Konkan regions, the likelihood of landslides will increase over the next two days. Therefore, it is recommended to avoid monsoon tourism until the intensity of the rain decreases.
Red and Orange Alerts Issued
Vidarbha, Konkan, and Marathwada regions have experienced moderate to heavy rain, with more expected over the next two to three days. The Konkan region, especially Sindhudurg and Ratnagiri, has been issued a red alert, while Raigad, Mumbai, Thane, and Palghar districts are under an orange alert for heavy to very heavy rainfall.
Pune and Satara districts have also been warned of very heavy rain in certain Ghat areas. Kolhapur district has an orange alert, with Patgaon Dam recording a remarkable 325 mm of rainfall on Sunday.
Warnings for Other Regions
Entire Vidarbha, Marathwada, and all districts in Khandesh have been issued a yellow alert in some areas. The weather department predicts heavy to very heavy rain in Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, Pune, and Satara districts on Tuesday (July 9).

Continued Rainfall in Konkan and Surrounding Areas
For the past three to four days, Mumbai and its suburbs, Thane, and Palghar in the Konkan region have been experiencing rain. However, Goa, entire Sindhudurg, southern Ratnagiri, and parts of Raigad district have been hit harder by more intense rainfall.
Increased rainfall is expected in the northern Konkan districts starting July 12, according to retired meteorologist Manikrao Khule.
