Hit-and-run: 56-year-old woman injured in Pimple Saudagar Road accident

Vijaya Nayar's daughter Sharanya Saurabh Tiwari (31), residing at Rose Wood Society in Pimple Saudagar, has filed a complaint with police.

Pune: A 56-year-old woman walking down the road side was hit by a speeding car on Sunday (July 21) afternoon 1.30pm.

The woman sustained serious injuries in this accident and was later admitted to a private hospital for medical treatment. The unidentified car driver fled from the accident spot without helping the injured woman.

The injured woman has been identified as Vijaya Kumar Nayar, a resident of Stone Ridge Society, Waghere Colony, Pimpri Gaon.

Vijaya's daughter Sharanya Saurabh Tiwari (31), residing at Rose Wood Society in Pimple Saudagar, has filed a complaint in this regard at Pimpri police station.

Based on her complaint, Pimpri police have registered FIR against an unidentified person, driving a car with registration number MH14 LL 1654.

The suspect has been booked under sections 281, 125 (a) of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita and sections 184, 134/177 of the Motor Vehicle Act.

According to the complainant, Vijaya Nayar was walking down the road near Mahadev Mandir on Pimpri Gaon to Pimple Saudagar stretch. The suspect driver of the speeding car hit Vijaya and fled from the scene.

Vijaya fell down on the road and sustained serious injuries due to this accident. Police Sub Inspector Salunkhe is investigating the case.

Recently, Journalist Sharad Gaikwad (42) died on the spot when a speeding truck hit him and his wife near Decathlon Mall in Wakad. The impact was so severe that the couple was thrown into the air before crashing to the ground.
