Pune: Manorama Khedkar, the mother of controversial IAS trainee Puja Khedkar, has been apprehended by Pune police in Raigad.
Manorama is accused of threatening a farmer at gunpoint, leading to a police case being filed against her. Since the filing of the case, she had been on the run.
During the ongoing controversy surrounding IAS trainee Puja Khedkar, a video surfaced showing Manorama Khedkar brandishing a gun and threatening a farmer in Mulshi.
This video went viral on social media, prompting the farmer to file a complaint. Subsequently, a case was registered against both Manorama and her husband Dilip Khedkar. The police had been actively searching for the couple.
The video is reportedly old, dating back to June 5, 2023. It resurfaced amidst the ongoing controversy involving IAS officer Puja Khedkar. Following the video's circulation, a complaint was lodged by farmer Pandharinath Kondaba Pasalkar.
The complaint named Manorama, Dilip Khedkar, two women, two men, and two hired goons. The incident occurred in Mulshi, where Manorama Khedkar allegedly pointed a gun at the farmer during a land dispute.
The farmers tried to file a complaint at the Paud police station, but initial reports suggest the complaint was not registered due to external pressure, raising questions about who might be backing the Khedkar family. The video's virality and the spotlight on Puja Khedkar's allegations gave him the courage to come forward.
Manorama Khedkar had also threatened Chatuhshrungi traffic police officers on Thursday (July 11) who had been to Khedkar residence to take action against usage of unauthorized beacon on a private Audi car.
