Pimpri: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Regional Transport Office (RTO) has recently addressed an increase in complaints from vehicle owners who have not received their vehicle registration certificates (RC books) due to incomplete addresses.

In response, the RTO has issued a public appeal for applicants to provide full and correct addresses to facilitate timely delivery.

The challenges with RC book deliveries have been growing, with 1,253 vehicle owners requesting address changes on their RC books in the Pimpri-Chinchwad region over the last seven months alone.

This surge has created difficulties in accurately locating recipients, as incomplete addresses hinder the post office’s delivery efforts. Consequently, undelivered RC books are being returned to the RTO, causing delays and frustration among vehicle owners.

When a new vehicle is purchased, the RTO issues an RC book, which serves as proof of registration. Prior to 2006, vehicle buyers could collect their RC books directly from the dealer. However, the RTO has since replaced traditional paper RC books with smart cards.

These cards contain vital information, including the vehicle’s registration number, the owner’s name and address, the purchase date, and the engine number.

Since April 1, the number of address change requests submitted to the RTO has risen significantly, creating additional complications in the delivery process.

Due to incomplete addresses, postmen are unable to deliver these RC books effectively, resulting in multiple documents being returned to the RTO. To mitigate this issue, the Pimpri-Chinchwad RTO has urged applicants to ensure that the address entered during vehicle registration or license application is complete and accurate.

The RTO verifies each address during the approval process for license and registration applications. Therefore, providing a complete address is essential for citizens to receive their documents without undue delay.

Rahul Jadhav, Deputy Regional Transport Officer of Pimpri-Chinchwad, commented, "Currently, the office verifies the address given at the time of license or vehicle registration. Citizens are advised to provide full and accurate addresses to avoid issues in receiving documents.”
