Pune: Toastmasters District 125 celebrated the 100th anniversary of Toastmasters International with a grand event at the MES Auditorium in Kothrud, Pune.
Veteran IT expert Dr. Bhooshan Kelkar, addressing an audience of over 300 members, highlighted India’s pivotal role in the AI revolution. "AI is not just for developed nations; India is fully immersed in it and poised to shape this revolution," Dr. Kelkar said in his keynote speech.
Leaders from District 125, including District Director Milind Patwardhan, DTM, Program Quality Director Sushil Pawar, DTM, and Club Growth Director Col. Uday Jagavkar, DTM, also attended the event alongside present and former district leaders.
Founded in 1924, Toastmasters International has grown into a global institution with a presence in over 140 countries, supporting members in enhancing their communication and leadership skills.
District 125, covering Pune, Nashik, Kolhapur, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Ahmednagar, and Goa, encompasses nearly 100 clubs and 2,000 members.
Dr. Kelkar highlighted the transformative nature of AI, emphasizing that India is on the cusp of becoming a significant player in the AI sector. He encouraged young Toastmasters members to focus on communication, which will be foundational to advancing new technologies.
District Director Milind Patwardhan underscored the continued relevance of strong communication skills, even amidst the technological changes driven by AI. He assured members that District 125 would continue offering valuable programs and encouraged attendees to champion the importance of Toastmasters.
During the event, clubs that demonstrated outstanding performance over the past three months received Gold and Silver awards.
