Jewelry Bag Worth ₹5 Lakh Stolen in Broad Daylight Theft in Pune

The complainant and his wife are retirees. They had previously pledged gold jewelry worth ₹4,95,500 at the State Bank of India in Uruli Kanchan.

Pune: A man lost a bag containing jewelry worth ₹5 lakh in a broad daylight theft while stopping to buy snacks near Shewalwadi. The incident occurred when Dashrath Dhamane, 69, and his wife, both retirees, were returning home after retrieving their jewelry from a bank.

According to the police, the complainant and his wife are retirees. They had previously pledged gold jewelry worth ₹4,95,500 at the State Bank of India in Uruli Kanchan.

On Thursday (August 29), they retrieved the jewelry and hung the bag containing it on their bike. The husband parked the bike near Rohit Wadewale’s shop and went inside to buy snacks, leaving his wife by the bike.

A thief approached on a motorcycle and told the wife that some money had fallen. When she went to check, another thief took advantage of the distraction and stole the bag from the bike. Police Constable Pandule from Hadapsar police station is investigating the case.

Attempted Suicide by 21-Year-Old with Country-Made Pistol

A 21-year-old man attempted suicide by shooting himself in the head with a country-made pistol.

The young man, identified as Vivek Vasant Kokate (21, resident of Govardhan Building, Audumbar Park, Gopalpatti), attempted suicide at his residence on Friday at 12 p.m. He is currently receiving treatment at Noble Hospital in Hadapsar.

According to the police, Vivek Kokate attempted suicide while he was at home, using a country-made pistol to shoot himself in the head. Upon hearing the gunshot, his mother, Vidya Kokate, immediately rushed him to the hospital. The Hadapsar police are conducting further investigations.
