Pune: An illegal liquor distillery operating in Santosh Nagar, Kalepadal, was raided by Kalepadal Police, resulting in the seizure of 3,045 liters of country-made liquor valued at ₹8.72 lakh.
Police also confiscated a car used to transport the illegal liquor. Two individuals, Satish Prakash Kacharawat (42) and Manesh Prakash Kacharawat (35), both residents of Santosh Nagar, Kanjarbhat area, Mahamadwadi Road, have been arrested in connection with the illegal operation and are facing charges.
The raid was prompted when police constable Mahadev Shinde, part of a patrol team, received a tip about a distillery being operated behind the suspects' residence, where equipment for brewing liquor had been assembled.
Acting on this information, the Kalepadal Police raided the site and arrested the two suspects. Officers seized 87 cans of country-made liquor and a Swift car used for transporting the contraband.
The operation was executed under the supervision of Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Joint Police Commissioner Ranjankumar Sharma, Additional Police Commissioner Manoj Patil, and Deputy Commissioner of Police R. Raja.
The raid team, led by Assistant Police Commissioner Dhanyakumar Godse and Senior Police Inspector Manasingh Patil, included officers Assistant Police Inspector Amit Shete, Police Sub-Inspector Sanjay Gaikwad, Prashant Latpate, and several constables from the Kalepadal police team.
Recently, the State Excise Department seized foreign liquor valued at ₹76.55 lakhs in Mulshi taluka, near Adarwadi village on the Paud-Mangaon road.
The seized contraband included 33,600 bottles, each with a capacity of 180 ml, (total 700 boxes) of Poland Pride Premium Collection Reserve Whisky, a brand manufactured in Goa and permitted for sale exclusively within that state.
