Pune Police have submitted a chargesheet against seven individuals, including businessman Vishal Agarwal, his wife Shivani, and Sassoon Hospital doctors, in connection with alleged evidence tampering in the Kalyaninagar accident case.

This step indicates the trial may soon proceed in Pune’s Special Court under Judge U. M. Mudholkar.

The case revolves around a fatal accident on May 19 in Kalyaninagar, where a speeding car struck and killed a couple on a motorcycle. Agarwal’s minor son, the driver of the vehicle, was taken into custody shortly after.

In an attempt to protect him, the Agarwal family allegedly bribed Sassoon Hospital’s forensic head, Dr. Ajay Tavare, and chief emergency medical officer, Dr. Shrihari Halnor, to tamper with the son’s blood sample.

Police have filed an indictment against the couple and the doctors, along with Ashpak Makandar and Amar Gaikwad, on charges of tampering with evidence and fabricating documents.

Additionally, the mobile phones of Dr. Shrihari Halnor and Atul Ghatkamble, also named in the case, have been submitted for technical analysis but remain inaccessible due to pattern locks.

Special Public Prosecutor Shishir Hiray has filed a request with the court to obtain the “pattern” required to unlock these devices for further investigation.

Meanwhile, public prosecutors are also seeking to have co-accused Arun Kumar Singh officially declared as absconding. Singh, who allegedly instructed Ashish Mittal to substitute his blood sample for that of Agarwal’s son to destroy evidence, is currently on the run after both Shivajinagar Court and the Bombay High Court rejected his anticipatory bail requests.
