Pune: To manage traffic congestion for the upcoming distribution ceremony of the Chief Minister's “Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana” scheme beneficiaries, a ban on heavy vehicles has been enforced temporarily. The ban will remain in effect until midnight August 17.

The ceremony, which will take place at Balewadi Stadium in the presence of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on August 17, necessitates this traffic restriction. District Collector Dr. Suhas Divase issued the order to prevent traffic jams on key routes.

The restriction will apply to all heavy and oversized vehicles traveling on the Pune-Solapur, Pune-Satara, Pune-Ahmednagar, Pune-Nashik, Pune-Mumbai (Old), and Pune-Mumbai Expressway routes.

However, vehicles belonging to event beneficiaries, government officials, staff, and essential services will be exempt from the ban.

The Maharashtra state government has initiated the "Ladki Bahin Yojana," a scheme aimed at empowering women. As part of this initiative, funds have already begun to be deposited into the bank accounts of eligible women.

The official launch of the scheme is set for tomorrow, August 17, in Pune. The event will be attended by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, and Union Minister of State Murlidhar Mohol.

Pune Traffic Police have urged commuters to follow traffic diversion instructions in Balewadi area to avoid traffic congestion.
