Shivraj Sanas

Pune: A violent altercation took place on the night of September 24 in the Katraj-Kondhwa area, leaving one man seriously injured after being attacked with a sickle, while his father was assaulted with an iron rod.

The incident occurred at Jaishankar Tyres, where the victim, Vidhyadhar Nair, works.

According to reports, the assailant, Amit Shaikh, arrived at the garage intoxicated and threatened Nair’s father. Vidhyadhar intervened and managed to send Amit away.

However, Amit returned shortly after with accomplices, including Akshay Gaikwad and Kiran Mane. In a fit of rage, Amit attacked Vidhyadhar, striking him multiple times with a sickle, inflicting serious injuries to his head, left arm, and ribs.

The situation escalated further as Amit’s accomplices assaulted the complainant, Mahesh Subhash Tryambake, who owns the garage, threatening to "finish him off" as well. In the chaos, Akshay and Kiran also attacked Vidhyadhar’s father with an iron rod, attempting to cause fatal injuries.

The police responded quickly to the complaint filed by Tryambake at Bharti Vidyapeeth Police Station. A case of attempted murder has been registered against Amit Shaikh, Akshay Gaikwad, Kiran Mane, and one unidentified accomplice.

The investigation is being led by Assistant Police Inspector Sameer Shende from Bharti Vidyapeeth police station, who is currently looking for the remaining suspects involved in the brutal attack.
