Pune: A tourist from Kerala visiting Pune had a brief scare when he realized that he had left his bag in an auto-rickshaw. Thanks to the quick actions of the Samarth Police and the diligent use of CCTV footage, the bag was recovered, much to the relief of the visitor.

Riyaz Ahmed K.P., a 48-year-old resident of Kozhikode, Kerala, arrived at Pune Railway Station on Sunday (September 8) morning at around 10:30 AM. He was in Pune to meet his friend Umar Karim Farukh, 24, in the Rasta Peth area.

After taking an auto-rickshaw to his friend’s location, Riyaz realized a short while later that he had left one of his bags in the rickshaw. The bag contained not only clothes but also valuable items and important documents, which added to his distress.

In need of assistance, Riyaz approached the Samarth Police Station to report the incident. Upon hearing his situation, police officers Constable Ghorpade and Havaldar Imran Sheikh immediately got to work. They reviewed footage from six to seven CCTV cameras in the area to track down the rickshaw.

The officers successfully identified the rickshaw and traced its registration number. This led them to the rickshaw driver, Arun Pawar, a 50-year-old resident of Manas Lake, City Grand Tower.

When contacted, Pawar responded promptly and returned the bag to the police station. All items in the bag were found intact.

Riyaz Ahmed was overwhelmed with gratitude and praised the Pune Police for their swift and effective action in recovering his belongings, commending their use of technology and prompt response in resolving the issue.
