Pune: The initiative to distribute property cards as proof of ownership to 12,000 property holders in Kharadi is nearing completion.

The task, assigned to 50 deputy superintendents from five districts, is expected to be finished within two and a half months, followed by the distribution of property cards.

The survey, measurement, and mapping of 700 hectares in Kharadi, conducted with ETS machines, rovers, and drones, have been completed. These maps have been forwarded to the municipal corporation for confirmation of municipal-owned properties, roads, and open spaces.

Following this, the land records department will verify ownership. Deputy superintendents from the Pune division will conduct this verification, with a target of completing the task within two and a half months.

In cities with completed city surveys, both 7/12 extracts and property cards are still in use, causing issues and increasing fraud cases. To address this, the land records department decided to discontinue 7/12 extracts in these areas.

A computer system developed with NIC's help was used in a successful pilot project in Wadgaon Sheri. Consequently, the Kharadi survey was approved by the municipal corporation and completed within two months using modern technology. The prepared maps are now awaiting municipal confirmation before verification.

Rajendra Gole, Deputy Director (Urban Land Measurement), Land Records Department stated, "The land records department has outlined a plan to appoint deputy superintendents from Pune, Satara, Sangli, Solapur, and Kolhapur districts as inquiry officers.

Once verification is complete, property cards will be distributed to property holders."
