Pune: Kirti School, operated by the Li. Sophia Education Society Trust in Nigdi, is under scrutiny by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation due to unpaid rent amounting to approximately ₹12 lakh.

PCMC has warned the school administration that it will seize the school's rooms if the overdue rent is not paid within three days.

Kirti School is located in Nigdi's Pradhikaran area and operates from six rooms on the ground floor of a three-story building owned by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation.

The building has been rented to the school, but it was recently revealed that no formal lease agreement has been in place for the last 18 years.

Moreover, the school administration has accumulated rent arrears of ₹11,85,125 over the past three years, creating a significant financial strain on the Municipal Corporation’s resources.

The school has been further implicated due to an incident involving one of its teachers, Nivrutti Devaram Kalbhor, who allegedly molested a minor student on August 23.

This incident prompted the Municipal Corporation’s Land and Property Department to take action regarding the unpaid rent. Acting on instructions from the department, the 'A' Regional Office issued a formal notice to the school administration, demanding the payment of the overdue ₹11,85,125 within three days.

Ward Officer Suchita Pansare, who issued the notice, emphasized that the failure to comply with this demand would result in the Municipal Corporation taking possession of the school’s rooms.

Pansare stated, "The school administration has been given clear instructions to settle the outstanding dues promptly. If they fail to do so within the stipulated three-day period, we will have no choice but to reclaim the rooms currently occupied by the school."
