Pune: The L3 Liquid Leisure Lounge Bar on Fergusson Road has come under intense scrutiny after a viral video showed young patrons consuming drugs in the bar's restroom.
The investigation, initiated on June 23 night, is focusing on the youths who were seen using drugs. There is a suspicion that some underage children were among the individuals, prompting the police to question 40 to 45 individuals present that night. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Sandeep Singh Gill confirmed that an investigation is underway.
The L3 Pub video went viral sparked an uproar, leading Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar to order a crackdown on the pub. Authorities have charged and arrested the bar's owner, operators, and managers.
Two night-patrol officers and Police Inspector (Crime) Anil Mane and Assistant Police Inspector Dinesh Patil from Shivajinagar Police Station have been suspended. The pub has been sealed by the police.
This incident raises serious concerns about drug use and potential underage drinking in public venues, and authorities are taking stringent measures to address these violations. Police are now searching for those involved and the revelation that they spent between ₹80000 and ₹85000 in one night.
Reports indicate that the youths entered the pub through a back door around midnight, following a prior party. CCTV footage from the pub is being examined as part of the ongoing investigation.
L3 Liquid Leisure Lounge pub is located on Fergusson College (FC) Road. The pub was vandalized on June 24 by activists of Patit Pavan Sanghatna (PPS). PPS workers took to the streets, throwing stones and causing damage to the pub around 1pm. This act of vandalism was in response to the viral video, which has raised concerns about drug use in public establishments.
