Pune: In a shocking incident on Laxmi Road, Ganesh Peth, two individuals assaulted a 21-year-old youth and robbed him of ₹2.63 lakh after he refused to share his bank password.
The incident occurred on August 25, 2024, around 5:15 PM in front of the Duliya Maruti Temple. The victim, a resident of Shirur, reported to the Faraskhana Police Station that the suspects had approached him, offering to help book an online ticket.
When he declined to provide his bank password, they physically assaulted him, abused him, and forcibly obtained the password. The attackers also snatched his wallet containing an ATM card, Aadhaar card, and ₹20,000 in cash before fleeing the scene.
They subsequently withdrew ₹2.63 lakh from his bank account. A case of robbery has been registered, and Police Sub-Inspector Shinde is investigating the matter.
Aspiring Gangster Caught with Illegal Firearms
Pune: In a swift police action, a self-styled gangster was apprehended while seeking buyers for illegal firearms.
The accused, identified as Aditya Mahesh Dongre, 24, from Samarth Nagar, New Sangvi, was caught with three country-made pistols and three cartridges under the new bridge construction site on Datt Ashram Road, Old Sangvi.
The arrest came after the police received intelligence about Dongre's attempts to sell the weapons. He had acquired the firearms to assert his dominance in the New Sangvi area.
Police Constable Vivek Ramesh Gaikwad filed the complaint at the Sangvi Police Station, leading to a carefully planned trap that resulted in Dongre’s arrest.
The seized items, including the pistols and cartridges, are valued at ₹76,500. Police Sub-Inspector Takbhate is leading the ongoing investigation.
