Pune: As campaigning for the Assembly elections reaches its peak, the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) and the Mahayuti (Grand Alliance) have also launched a flurry of advertisements.

The Brahmin community expressed anger over the mention of 'Anaji' in an advertisement of the Maha Vikas Aghadi and demanded a ban on it.

The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) today (Friday) published a full-page advertisement in newspapers regarding the election campaign.

"The first anaji looted Swarajya and the second destroyed the dream of Maharashtra and farmers," the advertisement said.

The Akhil Bharatiya Brahmin Mahasangh has objected to the advertisement. "This has hurt the sentiments of the Brahmin community and violated the model code of conduct by trying to create communal tension," the federation said.

"On behalf of the Akhil Bharatiya Brahmin Mahasangh, we strongly condemn this advertisement and the Maha Vikas Aghadi.

Such communally motivated advertisements should be banned immediately and withdrawn from newspapers," federation president Mandar Rede said.

Assembly elections in the state will be held on November 20. The campaign will end on November 18. The election results will be declared on November 23.
