Pune/ New Delhi: The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has taken an aggressive stand against the rebels who are contesting with a rebel flag against the party candidate.

Withdraw the rebellion within the next 24 hours and support the party's official candidate; Otherwise, face action," the Congress and Shiv Sena (UBT) had said.

Not only this, but action will also be taken against party workers who are roaming with these rebels.

Congress city president Arvind Shinde, NCP's Sharad Pawar in-charge city president Ankush Kakade and Shiv Sena's Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray party's city chief Sanjay More and Gajanan Tharkude held a joint press conference on Tuesday.

Congress city coordinator Ajit Darekar, Shaikh, Muktar Shaikh and other office-bearers and workers were present on the occasion.

Congress leaders Kamal Vyavahare in Kasba assembly constituency, Aba Bagul in Parvati and Manish Anand in Shivajinagar have rebelled. In Hadapsar, Shiv Sena's Gangadhar Badhe has raised the banner of rebellion. Maha Vikas Aghadi leaders said action has been initiated against them by the party.

Shinde said, "The party has issued notices to the rebels who did not withdraw despite repeated requests and given 24 hours time. If he does not disclose within the deadline, action will be taken against him by the party. State level leaders have also been informed about it," Shinde said on the rebels' statement claiming that injustice had been meted out to them.

The strength they are claiming today is basically created by the party giving them a chance. If anyone challenges the party, the party will also respond to it with equal force," More said, adding, "A proposal to expel Badhe from the party has been sent and action will be taken soon."

Congress leader Manish Anand has retained his nomination from Shivajinagar assembly seat despite requests. His wife Pooja Anand is the city president of Mahila Congress.

When asked about it, Shinde said, "We have also issued a notice to them and asked them to clarify their stand. If she stays with the party, there is no question of action. If they follow their husband's actions, disciplinary action will also be recommended against them."
