Doordarshan to organise orientation programmes for students of 9th and 12th grade

Sakal Times News Desk

Pune: Starting this October,  an educational guidance program will be started on Doordarshan for the students of class IX to XII in the state of Maharashtra. The program will be organised by Vidya Pradhikaran.

This year, schools and junior colleges in the Maharashtra state have not been able to start due to the COVID-19 outbreak. As a result, education has moved to a digital space. Since June 15, teachers have been teaching students online, and in areas with a low infection group systems have been implemented.

Considering the limitations in access of internet facilities and online classes in the rural area,  the Department of Education has been trying to use television to reach out to students across the state at the same time.

Efforts were being taken to find time slots on television and a letter was also written to the Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar seeking the same. However, programs on television did not start at that time.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Gyan Mahamandal, in collaboration with Vidya Pradhikaran, has started a program called 'Tilimili' for students of class I to VIII. However, there was no such educational program for the students of class IX to XII. Therefore, in the last semester of the first session, an educational guidance program for students of class IX to XII is being aired on Doordarshan from October.

Dinkar Patil, Director, Vidya Pradhikaran, said that "Doordarshan has been providing time since October to start educational programs for students of Class IX to XII. Details of the airing of the program will be announced soon. Parts of the educational program have been created. Filming for the next episode is also underway."

"In the first phase of television programs, for ninth to twelfth-grade students will be started. After that, the program will be started for the students of class I to VIII," informed Patil.
