Mumbai: In a shocking lead to the Antilia bomb probe case, former Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh has accused Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh of extortion.

In his letter to Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, on Saturday, Singh claimed that Deshmukh had ordered suspended API Sachin Waze to collect Rs 100 crore every month from bars and restaurants. Singh in his letter wrote: “At one of the briefing sessions in the wake of the Antilia incident held in mid-March when I was called late evening at Varsha to brief you I had pointed at several misdeeds and malpractices being indulged into by the Home Minister.”

Singh also stated that he had also briefed NCP Chief Sharad Pawar, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, other senior ministers of the state.

Meanwhile, Anil Deshmukh refuted all allegations. Taking to Twitter, he said, "To save from the further next enquiry in the Sachin Waze case, Param Bir Singh is trying to save himself and stating false allegations."

Anil Deshmukh recently said that transfer of Mumbai Police Commissioner Param Bir Singh was not a routine administrative move and the decision was taken after investigation revealed serious errors.

“This was not an administrative transfer. There are many things that have come ahead during the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and ATS investigations. Being Mumbai CP, some serious mistakes have been committed by his officers working in the commissioner’s office. These mistakes are serious, Deshmukh said at an event organised in Mumbai by a Marathi newspaper.

Param Bir Singh was removed as the Mumbai Police Chief, days after the arrest of Sachin Waze by the NIA over its investigation into the recovery of the explosives-laden van near Antilia, Mukesh Ambani's house.

Singh was transferred as DG Homeguards.
