Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray's statement on the demolition of the Babri Masjid during his speech in the state assembly have irked MVA partner Samawadi Party.

MVA’s (Maha Vikas Aghadi) partner in the ruling government, Samajwadi Party (SP) is unhappy with Uddhav Thackeray’s remark. SP leader and MLA Abu Asim Azmi in a protest has asked the Muslim Ministers in the MVA government.

Uddhav Thackeray on Wednesday in assembly said, "Everyone else ran away after demolition of Babri but it was Shiv Sena Chief Balasaheb Thackeray who owned up the responsibility saying that If my Shiv Sainiks have done this, I am proud of them."

The remark did not go down well with Shiv Sena’s partner Samajwadi Party. Angry Abu Azmi prompted the CM about the 'Common Minimum Programme' upon which the alliance was constructed after the Maharashtra Assembly election in 2018.

Also, Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam slammed the leaders from ruling parties for keeping silent over the Thackeray’s statement. “While CM Uddhav Thackeray made the remarks, MLAs, ministers from NCP, Congress sitting next to him kept enjoying it. Which common minimum program is this?” he tweeted in Hindi.
