Pune: Though bird flu which is also called as Avian Influenza has hit many states in India, the Maharashtra government has said that there no imminent threat and nothing is to worry but administration is on high alert.

The government has given an alert to all local officers from the department of animal husbandry to report any unusual death of birds if reported and send samples to the Western Regional Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (WRDDL) and found no strain of Avian Influenza. The National Institute of High-Security Animal Diseases (NIHSAD), Bhopal, a nodal body for testing the flue, has also not issued any warning as of now, state officials stated. The Maharashtra government has also declared an advisory to those in the poultry business and consumers of non-vegetarian food not to panic.

An advisory issued by the state animal husbandry department read, “We have yet not found any death of birds because of bird flu. Hence, people in the poultry business and those eating non-veg food have no need to worry. They are suggested to report any cases if found such as unusual deaths of wild animals, hens and poultry birds.”

Meanwhile, multiple states such as Haryana, Rajasthan, Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh reported bird flu cases, which lead to culling of thousands of birds within a 1-km radius of the affected areas.
