Pune: A conductor of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has been booked by the Shivajinagar police for allegedly duping the state transport body of Rs 7,620 by issuing tickets after stealing electronic ticket machine of another conductor.

The accused conductor, BS Nagargoje, of Shivajinagar ST stand has been booked for offences under sections 420 (cheating) and 380 (theft) of the Indian Penal Code.

According to the police, the incident took place on the intervening night of March 21 and 22. Conductor NN Shinde had plugged his ticket machine for charging. Nagargoje allegedly took away the machine and issued tickets to 27 passengers for Rs 7,620 for Aurangabad bound semi-luxury bus which travels non-stop without a conductor. In Ahmednagar, the driver found people standing in the bus and when checked, found one passenger extra. When he checked the ticket, it mentioned conductor's name as Shinde, whereas the one actually issued them was Nagargoje. The driver alerted Ahmednagar ST stand officials who contacted Shivajinagar stand and the fraud came to light.

After enquiry, Shivajinagar ST stand manager Vrushali Bhosale (31) lodged an FIR against Nagargoje.
