Mumbai: A delegation of opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders led by Opposition Leader and former CM Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday reached Raj Bhavan in Mumbai to meet Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari.

The delegation including state BJP Chief Chandrakant Patil and other senior leaders submitted a memorandum to the Governor urging him to send a report on current situation in the state to President Ram Nath Kovind.

“Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has lost moral ground, they are working only for power. After so many incidents, Maharashtra CM is silence, Pawar Sahab held two press conference, he just tried to protect the minister,” Fadnavis was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

“If they have to register a case about leaking official secrets, I have done that for Maharashtra's interest. If they file a case against me, I'm not afraid. If there are 4 more cases against me, I'm ready. I will go to court and prove my point,” he added.

After the meeting, Fadnavis in a press conference said that the Governor should ask the Chief minister what act has been taken on the issue of extortion and transfer racket. "CM Thackeray has maintained silence on the entire political scenario. We have requested Governor to make him speak and pursue a report from him," Fadnavis said.

The Opposition party has been attacking the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) over the allegations against state Home Minister Anil Deshmukh, demanding his resignation. Deshmukh has been accused of corruption by Param Bir Singh, former Mumbai police commissioner during the investigation into Antilia bomb scare probe.

Former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday also handed over some key documents, including the closing audio tapes related to the transfer-posting racket in the state, to Union Home Secretary AK Bhalla.

The transcripts and telephonic conversations between top IPS officers in the state and power brokers, logged by the Commissioner of State Intelligence, give a vision into how at the request of powerful people in the state, key police officers were getting desired postings.

MVA NOT BOTHERED ABOUT COVID

Fadnavis also slammed the government for not having any seriousness about the grim situation of the COVID-19 in the state. He said, “This Govt is not bothered about the COVID-19 situation in the state. The way in which cases are increasing here, it has become the epicentre. I don't understand what has this government done to control it? It is time to act & not give lectures.”
