Mumbai's top cop Sachin Vaze on Sunday was remanded to NIA custody till March 25 in connection with the Antilia bomb scare case.
National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Mumbai Police's top cop Sachin Vaze on Saturday and was presented in court on Sunday. Vaze was arrested under Sections 286, 465, 473, 506(2), 120 B of the IPC, and 4(a)(b)(I)Explosive Substances Act 1908 for his alleged role and involvement in an explosives-laden van being placed near Reliance Industries Head, Mukesh Ambani's residence in Mumbai on February 25. Vaze on Saturday was present at the NIA office for over 12 hours to record his statement.
Vaze also had sought anticipatory bail from the Thane Sessions Court in the alleged murder case of Mansukh Hiran and the Antilia bomb scare probe. However, the court rejected the interim plea on Saturday.
In a cryptic WhatsApp status on Saturday, Sachin Vaze who was recently removed from the position of API (Assistant-Police Inspector) at Crime Branch claimed he was sought to be implicated in a similar incident earlier.
Hinting at the possibility of ending his life Vaze said, “I think the time to say goodbye to the world is coming closer. 'My fellow officers are on to falsely trap me' 3rd March 2004. Fellow officers from the CID arrested me in a false case. That arrest inconclusive till date. Sensing history is going to repeat,” said Vaze on his WhatsApp status.
“My fellow officers are on to falsely trap me. There's a slight difference in the scenario. Then probably I had 17 years of hope, patience, life and service too,” IANS quoted Vaze as saying.
The Maharashtra Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) had recorded Vaze's statement recently, in which he has denied using the van that was in possession of Hiran and claimed he was present in Dongri when Mansukh went missing.
