Here’s all you need to know about the night curfew in Maharashtra

Pune: The state government of Maharashtra on Monday declared to impose the night curfew starting from Tuesday (today). The curfew will be imposed between 11 pm to 6 am till January 5 in Mumbai and other urban limits. The Central government has decided that all flights originating from the UK to India will be halted from 11.59 pm from December 22 till 11.59 pm on December 31.

The decision was made on the backdrop of the new coronavirus strain which has been termed as 'out control' in UK. The state government also has declared a new set of quarantine rules for arrivals from Europe and the Middle East.

Here’s all you need to know about the night curfew in Maharashtra:

Night curfew will remain in place till January 5

In the wake of new coronavirus strain making its impact in the United Kingdom, the Maharashtra government decided to impose a night curfew in all the municipal areas. It is also said that the decision has been taken ahead of the celebrations of Christmas and New Year’s eve. After a review meeting with government officials and police, the Chief Minister declared the imposition of the night curfew. The curfew is imposed from 11 pm to 6 am till January 5.

What are the quarantine rules?

All travellers coming from the Middle East or European countries to Mumbai will be asked to undergo institutional quarantine for seven days at their own expense. If a passenger is found with symptoms of the infection, he or she will be sent to the hospital. The RT-PCR test of the infection will be conducted from the fifth day from the arrival of the passenger.

If the report comes negative, the passenger will be discharged but however hey will be asked to stay in home quarantine for 7 days. If the report is positive but the patient is asymptomatic, he or she will have to continue the quarantine at the hotel. If the patient is symptomatic, he or she will be sent to the hospital for 14 days.

What will remain shut during the night curfew

All shops, except those delivering essential products such as medical stores, will be asked to close after 11 pm. All non-essential travel will not be permitted after 11 pm. The state will deploy police personnel to ensure obedience. Also, more than five persons cannot assemble outside during the mentioned hours.
