The statue of Shiv Sena founder late Bal Thackeray is all set to be inaugurated on Saturday. The BMC has installed the statue on MG road at Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Chowk in Colaba in Mumbai.
Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray will unveil the nine-feet-tall bronze statue on an 11-feet pedestal, part of the grand ceremony being organised on Shiv Sena founder birth anniversary.
Shiv Sena has invited leaders from across the political spectrum for the grand ceremony on Saturday. NCP chief Sharad Pawar and former chief minister and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis have been invited for the inauguration event. MNC’s chief Raj Thackeray is also expected to be present at the event.
A section of local residents have opposed the installation of the statue stating a 2013 supreme court order which has banned the installation of the statue on public roads.
