Women’s Day 2021: Maharashtra allocates exclusive vaccination centres for women

The Maharashtra government has set up 189 special vaccination centres exclusively for females on International Women's Day

Mumbai: Women’s Day is celebrated worldwide on March 8 of every year. No doubt, the day celebrates the social, economic cultural and political achievements of women.

Now in a unique initative to mark this year’s International Women's Day, the Maharashtra government has set up 189 special vaccination centres exclusively for females. A health department was quoted by IANS as saying. “To mark this significant day, we have set up an average of 5 vaccination dedicated only for women in each of the 36 districts in the state.”

At all these exclusive centres, special arrangements have been made to welcome women gathering for the vaccination doses along with other facilities and presence of female staff, he added. Of the 189 centres around Maharashtra, Thane district has been allotted the maximum - 19 - special women vaccination sites.

Meanwhile, after reporting more than 10,000 new COVID-19 cases consecutively for two days, the state on Sunday reported 11,141 new cases, taking the total to 22,19,727 while 38 deaths carried forward to total deaths to 52,478, according to state’s health department.
