Man Arrested for Cutting Off Wife’s Finger in Drunken Rage

Police responded quickly, arresting Suraj Paswan and confirming that he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the attack.

Pune: A man allegedly cut off his wife's finger while intoxicated, following a domestic argument.

The woman, Sanju Paswan, was immediately rushed to the hospital by her family, where she received prompt medical attention.

The police, after registering an FIR based on the wife's complaint, arrested her husband, Suraj Paswan.

According to the police, Suraj Paswan, who works as a tile fitter and is addicted to alcohol, was involved in an argument with his son on Saturday (September 14).

When his wife, 35-year-old Sanju Paswan, attempted to intervene and mediate the dispute, Suraj became enraged. In his anger, he allegedly used a sharp object to cut off one of her fingers on her right hand.

Sanju was left injured and in pain but was immediately taken to a nearby hospital. Her condition has since stabilized, but the incident has caused a stir in the local community.

After the violent act, Sanju Paswan lodged a complaint at the Alandi police station. The police responded quickly, arresting Suraj Paswan and confirming that he was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the attack.

Senior Inspector Bhima Narke of Alandi Police Station confirmed the arrest and stated that Suraj has been remanded to judicial custody. The police are conducting further investigations to clarify the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.

The case has drawn significant attention due to the shocking nature of the crime, and authorities are continuing their inquiries. The incident has left residents of the area in shock, highlighting the dangers of domestic violence exacerbated by alcohol abuse.
