Man Beaten to Death in Front of Family Over Dispute at Chakan Hotel

While Sanket Ramchandra Gawde was settling the bill, one of the accused threw a note at his wife, Chaitrali, which led to an altercation.

Pune: A 25-year-old man, Sanket Ramchandra Gawde, was beaten to death in front of his wife and child in Nighoje, Khed Taluka, following a dispute that started when a note was thrown at his wife. Sanket, originally from Satara, succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment at a hospital.

According to the police, seven individuals have been charged in connection with the case, with five of them already in custody.

The accused include Deepak Jadhav (25), Deepak Sonawane (26), Tejas Sopan Ghadwe (26), Sachin Chandure (33), Akshay Patil (27), and two others identified only as Bunty and Golya, who remain at large. Senior Police Inspector Nitin Gite of Mhalunge Police Station is leading the investigation.

The incident occurred on August 20 when Sanket and his family went to Jaideep Hotel for dinner. While Sanket was settling the bill, one of the accused threw a note at his wife, Chaitrali, which led to an altercation. The dispute escalated when Deepak Sonawane slapped Sanket.

The situation worsened when Sanket received a call from a person claiming to be the main owner of Sai Amrut Lodge, who invited him to resolve the matter.

Sanket, along with Chaitrali and their child, went to the lodge, where the accused allegedly beat him with wooden sticks until he lost consciousness.

Chaitrali, who attempted to intervene, was also assaulted. Sanket died on Tuesday (August 27) while undergoing treatment for his injuries. The police have intensified their search for the two absconding accused and are continuing the investigation.
