Man Charged with Rape After Meeting Woman on Matrimonial Site

Pune: A man has been charged with rape after meeting a woman through the matrimonial website Jeevansathi.com, promising marriage, and then sexually assaulting her at her home. When the woman later inquired about marriage, the man refused, leading to allegations of deception and fraud.

The incident occurred in May at the victim's residence. The 28-year-old woman filed a complaint on Wednesday, July 3, at the Sinhagad Road Police Station. The accused, Sudarshan Sandeepan Shingate, 38, of Chandrabhaga Angan, Ambegaon, has been charged.

According to the police, the victim and the accused became acquainted through Jeevansathi.com in January. Shingate allegedly promised to marry the woman and visited her home multiple times, during which he established a physical relationship with her.

When the woman confronted him about marriage, he refused, revealing his deceit. The woman then lodged a complaint with the police, leading to the current charges against Shingate.
