Pune: In a tragic incident near Chimbali, close to Alandi, a 32-year-old man committed suicide after facing harassment from a finance company's recovery agents.

The deceased, Madhav Hanmant Waghmare, took his life while on a video call with his wife, citing the distress caused by the forcible seizure of his motorcycle.

According to sources, Madhav had taken a loan from a private finance company in 2022 and had been regularly paying the installments. On July 7, he made the latest payment towards his bike loan.

However, on July 17, a representative from the same finance company visited him again, claiming that three installments were overdue and demanded immediate payment of Rs. 49,000.

When Madhav couldn't meet their demands, the recovery agent allegedly assaulted him and forcibly took away his motorcycle.

The loss of his bike left Madhav in severe mental distress. He had repeatedly shared his worries with his wife and brother.

On the day of the incident, with his wife and children away in Latur for Raksha Bandhan celebrations, Madhav made a video call to his wife, informing her of his intent to commit suicide.

Despite desperate attempts by his wife and brother to stop him, Madhav hanged himself before police could intervene.

Madhav's brother, Keshav Hanmant Waghmare, has accused the recovery agents of the finance company of driving his brother to suicide. A formal complaint has been lodged, and the process of filing charges against the agents is underway.

This incident highlights the extreme pressure faced by individuals dealing with aggressive recovery practices, leading to tragic consequences.
