Pune: A 27-year-old man from Chakan, Pune, identified as Suryakant Ramdayal Prajapati, was found dead in the Rajmachi Valley, Lonavala. The police recovered his body on Wednesday (October 16), nearly seven days after he went missing, at a depth of 370 feet.

The police revealed that Suryakant, troubled by suspicions of his girlfriend’s involvement with another man, took his own life by jumping into the valley.

According to reports, Suryakant had left home on October 9 after becoming deeply distressed over his suspicions. When he did not return the following day, his family filed a missing person report with the Chakan Police Station, prompting the police to launch a search operation.

During their investigation, the police traced Suryakant’s last known location to Lonavala. The Chakan Police, in coordination with the Lonavala Police, visited the site to gather clues.

However, due to continuous heavy rains in the area, conducting the search was challenging, and it had to be done in phases. Before his suicide, Suryakant had recorded a brief two-second selfie video showing the green valley behind him. He left his phone at home and sent the video, which later became a crucial piece of evidence for the police.

Utilizing the information from the video, the police, along with the Shivdurga team, narrowed down the location to Rajmachi Valley.

The landscape seen in the video matched the area, leading them to resume their search this morning. Suryakant’s phone was discovered a few feet down in the valley, and further descent revealed the foul odor of the body.

The team confirmed it was Suryakant’s body, found 370 feet deep in the valley. The police have confirmed that Suryakant’s suicide was a result of his relationship troubles. The body was located by the Shivdurga team, led by Sunil Gaikwad.
