Pune: Vishrambaug Police have filed a case against a 31-year-old man for secretly taking photographs and videos of a young girl who is preparing for competitive exams.
The accused, Ajit Arun Shingote, who resides in Audumbar Sahawas Society in Shaniwar Peth, had been under surveillance by the woman and her friends, who noticed his suspicious behavior from a nearby building.
The young woman, along with her friends, had rented an apartment in a society in Shaniwar Peth to focus on their exam preparations.
Over the past few days, Shingote had been standing near his window, watching the women and secretly recording videos with his mobile phone. Upon realizing this, the young woman immediately filed a complaint at the Vishrambaug Police Station.
The police, under the investigation of Police Sub-Inspector Supriya Pandharkar, are currently probing the case.
There has been a concerning rise in incidents involving individuals capturing unauthorized images and videos of women, often leading to the circulation of such materials on social media platforms. The authorities have called for immediate reporting of such activities to prevent further misuse.
With the surge in cases involving unauthorized filming of women via mobile phones, the police have issued a public appeal. The police have urged citizens to stay vigilant and immediately report any suspicious behavior to law enforcement.
Unauthorized recording and circulation of such footage can lead to serious consequences for both the victims and those responsible for the filming.
Satara Man Arrested for Harassing Woman via Mobile
In a separate incident, the Singhagad Road Police arrested a 40-year-old man from Satara for persistently harassing a woman by contacting her through her mobile phone.
The accused, identified as Jahangir Nadaf, had been repeatedly calling the woman, using vulgar language in an attempt to develop a close relationship with her.
The victim, who resides in the Singhagad Road area, had been enduring this harassment for several days before she finally decided to approach the police. Police Sub-Inspector Malusare is currently leading the investigation.
This incident highlights the growing issue of harassment via mobile communication, with the police advising women to report any unwanted advances or obscene language immediately.
