Pune: An arrest warrant against Manoj Jarange, linked to a decade-old fraud case involving a theater producer, has been canceled by the court. Jarange, who cited medical reasons for his inability to attend court, had his warrant withdrawn based on his health condition.

Background of the Case:

Manoj Jarange was embroiled in a fraud case registered in 2013, with a charge sheet filed this June. He had been unable to appear in court due to medical reasons, following a hunger strike that deteriorated his health.

Medical Condition

Jarange, affected by a kidney infection, was admitted to Galaxy Hospital in Sambhajinagar, where doctors recommended two weeks of rest. Consequently, he couldn't attend the court proceedings.

Court Appearance and Request

Despite medical advice against travel, Jarange appeared before the court in an ambulance. He informed the court about his health issues and requested the cancellation of his arrest warrant. The court, considering the doctor's report, decided to cancel the warrant.

Court's Warning and Directions

The court issued a stern warning to Jarange, advising him against repeating contemptuous behavior towards the court. Media reports had earlier suggested that Jarange made derogatory remarks about the court, prompting the court to caution him about his language.

Legal Proceedings and Next Steps

The court, adhering to legal protocols, reviewed Jarange's medical reports and canceled the arrest warrant despite objections from government lawyers. Jarange was instructed to be cautious and issued new summons.

Upcoming Hearing

The next hearing for the case is set for September 3. The court has advised Jarange to avoid further contempt of court incidents.
