Man’s Rage Over Missed Call Leads to Assault on Wife, Father-in-Law Loses Tooth

Pune: In a shocking case of domestic violence, a man physically assaulted his wife, mother-in-law, and father-in-law in a fit of rage, all because his wife didn’t answer his phone call.

The incident took place in the home of Ravindra Sonawane, located in Talawade's Rupinagar area, on the evening of September 20.

The violent episode erupted when the son-in-law, Amol Gaikwad, confronted his wife, Pooja, after arriving at her parents' home. Gaikwad, infuriated that Pooja hadn’t answered his call, began to argue with her, escalating the confrontation into physical violence.

As the argument heated up, Gaikwad lost his temper and struck Pooja on the head with his mobile phone, causing her injury.

Alarmed by the situation, Pooja’s mother, Mangal Sonawane, stepped in to de-escalate the fight. Unfortunately, this intervention only fueled Gaikwad’s anger, leading him to attack his mother-in-law as well.

The conflict continued to spiral when Ravindra Sonawane, Pooja's father, tried to stop the ongoing violence. Gaikwad, in his rage, took his mobile phone and hit his father-in-law on the ear and face. This blow resulted in a serious injury to Ravindra’s ear and the loss of one of his teeth. The brutal assault left the family in shock and distress.

Following the incident, Ravindra Sonawane lodged a formal complaint at the Chikhli police station, which led to a case being registered against Gaikwad. The police are actively investigating the incident under the guidance of Sub-Inspector S. S. Devkar.
